UGC announces NET exemption cut-off date for MPhil holders

Posted: 24 Nov 2010 02:55 PM PST

ugcUniversity Grants Commission (UGC) has decided to exempt all candidates who obtained an MPhil degree on or before July 10, 2009 from clearing the National Eligibility Test (NET) to qualify for a lecturer's job.
The decision, taken at the UGC's 472nd meeting recently, comes as a huge relief for MPhil degree holders. The UGC had last year said that for the post of assistant professor it is mandatory to qualify NET.
This regulation had invited strong protests from a cross-section of the academic community and also led to multiple litigations in various high courts, including the Madras high court.

At its meeting, the UGC noted that the UGC Regulations of 2009/2010 "are prospective and not retrospective in nature," and therefore resolved that "all candidates having MPhil degree on or before July 10, 2009 shall remain exempted from the requirement of NET for the purpose of appointment as lecturer/assistant professor."

A copy of the minutes of the meeting furnished to a Delhi-based applicant under the Right to Information Act revealed that similar exemption shall be applicable to all candidates who have obtained a PhD degree on or before December 31, 2009. Candidates, who had registered themselves for PhD degree on or before July 10, 2009 and are subsequently awarded PhD degree, shall also enjoy the exemption from NET.

The new exemption might just fill various vacancies in universities across the country that is facing serious faculty crunch.

ans. 11th character will be printed “K” verify.

39.Theory question about far pointers.

Hint: Far pointers are 4 bytes in size and local pointers are 2 bytes in size. important: i saw in a previous question paper of accenture which is in the chetana database, some lady wrote that size of an integer in C is 2 bytes and for C++ it is 4 bytes. This is absurd.The size of types is entirely dependent on the compiler used.for DOS Turbo C sizeof int is 2 and float is 4 bytes for windows borland C,C++ size of int is 4 bytes for linux gcc, size of int is 2 bytes. All these depends on the Operating system.Please keep this in mind.
40.

Now some questions about extern variables.

41. #include<stdio.h>
main()
{
char str[]={“hell”};
int i;
for(i=0;i<5;i++)
printf(“%c%c%c%c\n”,str[i],i[str],*(str+i),*(i+str));
getch();
}
ans.
hhhh
eeee
llll
llll
note that str[i] and i[str] are the same.in the question paper, the original word is “hello”.

42. Which of the following is not defined in string.h strtod,memchr,strspn,strchr
ans . strtod.(defined in STDLIB.H) it is used to convert a string to double.

43. Questions on macros with arguments .same pattern given in TEST UR C SKILLS
eg.#define SQUARE(x) x*x
main()
{
…….
y=SQUARE(2+3);
printf(“%d”,y);
}
ans. when the macro expands we get 2+3*2+3 = 2+6+3 =11.11 is the correct answer not 25.

44. Remember an inline function does type checking and so it is better than a macro a question on this.

45. Some memory is allocated using memalloc and then realloc is called. and now to write the size of the variable.better learn memalloc and realloc. what it does and syntax.

10 Most Attractive IT Workplaces for Engineering Graduates

10 Most Attractive IT Workplaces for Engineering Graduates

Ever wondered which are the most coveted IT workplaces for graduates worldwide? The organisations they aspire to be a part of. Employer branding company Universum recently listed the world's Top 50 most attractive employers. The global rankings are based on the employer preferences of students from US, Japan, China, Germany, France, UK, Italy, Russia, Spain, Canada and India. Some 120,000 students from the world's top academic institutions were part of the survey to choose their ideal workplace.

Here's over to the 10 most 'attractive' IT workplaces for engineering grads.

1. Google

Topping the list of World's 'Most attractive employers' is Internet search giant Google. Started by Stanford University students Larry Page and Sergey Brin in 1997, Google continues to attract over 777,000 applicants a year.

One of the worst recession since Great Depression didn't leave Google too untouched. The tough times made the company take a harder line on managing expenses. It pulled the plug on as many as nine of its new products, cut many jobs, and also some of its famous perks, including free food and drinks on the campus. The company has been known for its flexible timings and other perks.

2. Microsoft

At No. 2 on the list is world's top software giant Microsoft. The software giant reigns on more than 90% of the world's desktops through its popular Windows operating system. The company recently introduced a new OS Windows 7. Windows 7 succeeds Microsoft's not-so-popular OS Vista.

Like all its IT peers the company too faced slowdown pangs. In a major restructuring, earlier this year Microsoft announced approximately 5000 job cuts.

3. IBM

Next most attractive employer for IT pros is business and technology solutions provider IBM at No. 3. The company has over 4 lakh employees worldwide.

Headquartered in Armonk, USA, the company offers IT infrastructure and BPO services, such as strategic outsourcing, business transformation outsourcing, integrated technology and maintenance.

The company recently announced a slew of layoffs in a bid to rein in expenses.

According to employee group Alliance@IBM, IBM layoffs may touch 16,000 by the year end.

4. Intel

At No. 5 on the overall list is the world's largest chipmaker Intel. Earlier last month, Intel reaffirmed its outlook of flat to slightly higher PC sales growth in 2009. Four out of every five PCs sold the worldover are powered by an Intel microprocessor.

The company is known to place strong emphasis on family, extra-curricular activities and volunteerism.

5. Sony

Sony figures at No. 7 on the list of Best employer for engineering grads. The Japanese electronics and entertainment giant has been battered by the global slowdown, sliding prices of gadgets and its failure to produce new blockbuster consumer products.

In January this year Tokyo-based Sony Corp announced 8,000 job cuts, or 5 per cent of its global workforce. The layoffs are intended to cut costs by $1.1 billion a year.

The company's extensive cost-cutting efforts are helping offset continued weak consumer demand and a strong yen, leading to a smaller-than-expected loss for its fiscal second quarter and an improved outlook for its fiscal year.

6. Siemens

At no 8 is Siemens. Siemens AG (Berlin and Munich) is a global powerhouse in electronics and electrical engineering, operating in the industry, energy and healthcare sectors.

The company has around 420,000 employees (in continuing operations) working to develop and manufacture products, design and install complex systems and projects, and tailor a wide range of solutions for individual requirements.

The company claims to be investing heavily in training employees, upgrading their professional qualifications and safeguarding their health.

7. Hewlett-Packard

World's largest personal-computer maker, Hewlett-Packard is at No 12 on the list of most attractive employers for engineering grads.

At HP, global virtual teams share resources and pool their brain power to solve business issues and meet personal goals.

The company has special employee volunteering programmes where they can serve the community for various causes. The company has special focus on employee development and training.

However, facing global economic slowdown blues, HP announced a slash in employee compensation and benefits
cross globe. The company said that the move will save up to 20,000 jobs.

8. Cisco

Networking major Cisco bags the 13th spot on the list. The company has been one of the most aggressive companies on the technology M&A front.

Founded in 1984 by a small group of computer scientists from Stanford University, Cisco's hardware, software, and service offerings are used to create Internet solutions. With more than 67,647 employees worldwide, the company's mantra is to motivate employees for innovation.

9. Nokia

World's top cellphone maker Nokia figures at the 19th spot on the list of Best employers. The mobile numero uno has been facing tough competition from companies like Apple in the smartphone market.
The company promises equal opportunities and openness towards all. Nokia is also said to host a variety of training activities through global network of Learning Centers.

Nokia also provides health-care services including medical check-ups, counselling and insurance programmes.

10. Accenture

At No. 20 on the list is global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company Accenture.

According to company website, Accenture offers flexi-work timings, maternity returners programmes and women's mentoring programmes.

Earlier this month, Accenture reported a fall in quarterly profit and gave a weaker-than-expected outlook for the fiscal year that began in September.

Wipro Infotech Fresher Job Interview Placement Papers Pattern Aptitude, Essay, Technical & Interview 2010

Posted: 22 Nov 2010 09:32 AM PST

wipro_logo Wipro Infotech Fresher Job Interview Placement Paper Patter (Aptitude, Essay, Technical & Interview)

Company Name : Wipro Infotech
Type : Fresher, Job Interview

No. of rounds: 4
1: Aptitude test
2: Essay writing
3: Technical Interview
4: HR interview

The above pattern is the latest followed by Wipro Recruitement Team.The Aptitute Test is conducted online on the computer so there are very less chances of any error creeping in. The test was conducted in 4 slots with around 70 students in one slot. The interface was clean and smooth with excellent work from the coordinators in carrying out the test.

1: Aptitude test: It had 3 sections namely verbal ability, quantitative apti, technical knowledge.
Verbal: 15 Questions
Quantitative: 15 Question
Technical: 20 Questions
Test Duration: 60min

Verbal had simple english ques, passage based ques, synonyms, antonyms, phrases, fill in the blanks etc.Completed this section in around 15 minutes since the questions were very very simple.  Quantitative had questions from time speed distance, logical thinking, blood relationship etc.Can’t remember more….However this section was also easy and completed it in around 15-20 minutes. Just brush up your concepts and general formulae and you will be fine with it.

Technical was the toughest section with questions on c, c++ , java, Operating System, and unix / linux ques.Some questions from Unix were way over the top but the trick is to clear the cutoff which lies around 10-12 marks in technical.You can easily score that much if you can do c, c++, java and maybe OS.

2: Essay writing:
Duration: 10min

They consider only text written on front side of the A4 paper.This seems to be a mere formality to check your arrangement of ideas and there representation.My topic was “College Politics”

3: Technical Interview: The technical interview went for around 20-25 minutes with questions ranging from your project, training informaion, your favourite subject. The question were majorly easy and simple to answer instead of the difficult progrmas and in depth question that are asked in some of the interviews

The question that they asked apart from technical ones were- are you ready to relocate anywhere in India.Can you fill the bond that we were asked to fill once we get placed in Wipro.What are your career aspirations. Show them your confidence….

4: HR INTERVIEW: The final stage of wipro placement drive. My interview began at 11:15pm. Although i was sleeping at that time but try to maintain your energy…keep a smile on your face :)

My interview was taken by the Head who came with her team from bangalore.She was nice and friendly.She asked me to tell something about myself which is not in my CV.Then she asked me the most challenging thing i had ever done in my life followed by why should we hire you?

At the end she asked me if i had any questions.

Just be yourself, be confident, CONFIDENCE is the key…Dont forget to remember the almighty and on your day nobody can stop you from achieving your aspirations.. All the best for your placement……

Accenture Fresher Job Interview Placement Paper Pattern

Company Name : Accenture
Type : Fresher, Job Interview

Hello Friends,
I am VIGNESH doing my final year engineering in K.L.N.College Of Engineering. I Appeared For Accenture on 24/04/2010 conducted by Anna University For Madurai Zone and Fortunately I got selected. Let me introduce my experience and the procedures for Accenture. The interview conducted at Sree Sowdambika Engineering College at Aruppukottai. As we entered into the college they told that we will have G.D first. They divided 15 into a panel. But G.D is conducted for 30 members and the time duration is only 15 minutes. My topic was “Education System In India“.The Discussion look like a fish market. I just put froth a single point that’s it. Finally 8/30 got selected in my panel and in the whole 250/991 got selected.

The next round was Written test – We 250 move for written test:
For Accenture the pattern is:
1. Verbal(20 Marks)
2. Quantitative (20 Marks)
3. Logical (20 Marks)

Here they asked:-
1.Articles(4) Ex: I saw __________ man near ______ park.
a.A,The
b.A,An
c.The,The
d.A,A

2. Synonyms(3 Marks)
The Sentence will be given and you have to provide the meaning for italized word.

3. Preposition (3 Marks)
Ex : Archana was living there _________ 1990.
a. from
b. since
c.for
d.on

This section is very easy knowing the basics Of grammar you can pass through it.

4. Comprehension(10 Marks)
Two Passages will be given but not so hard. you can the answer directly from the passage.dont go through the whole passage First read the questions and then search for it.
For Me they asked one relative to Operating System and another a story based they were easy. I am sure you can score atleast 17 marks here.

2. Quantitative(20 Marks)
Basic Problems were given. You can go through R.S.Agarwal and for any shortcuts you can refer Abhijit Guja. Practice is more preferred than Preparation. Practice well because Time matters here. They asked from Time and Distance, Time and Work, Calenders, Trains and most important Venn diagram but they were very easy(6-7) questions asked from venn diagram. Ex : Twelve like coke, fifteen like pepsi and five like both how many of them like one only. Some puzzles related to Seating Arrangement were also asked you can go through Non verbal of R.S.Agarwal.

3. Logical ( 15 Marks): Very Easy Section I think You can start from here but you should be fast.
In this section they asked related to basic Puzzle giving some condition and asked the answer. Ex : For an admission in a college, the conditions are (i)the one should complete 20 yrs (ii) He/She Should be Well Fluent in English (iii) He/She should pay one time payment of Rs.65,000/-

A) If all three conditions are satisfied admission is given
B) If condition (ii) fails he/she should be referred to the principal
C) If condition (iii) fails he/she should be referred to Director.

Qn 1. Vimal is 21 yrs and have good knowledge in English but he cant pay the full amount.
Ans: Referred To Director.

Like this there are nearly 4-5 qns. Next, type is if + becomes * , – becomes / , * becomes + and / becomes – like this they will ask qns(nearly 5 qns), and remaining 5 qns on to find similarities.
Ex : (i)111000 (ii)111100 (iii)111000
a) if all similar
b)if (i) and (ii) similar
c) if (i) and (iii) similar
d) if all are different

I am sure you can score 15/15 in this section. Totally you can score more than 45/55 in written test. Here 60/250 were shortlisted for HR Round The Next Round was HR Round. I entered at 5.30 pm

Me : May I come in mam.
HR: Yes
Me : Good evening Mam
HR : Are you Tensed?
Me : A little bit mam.

Q-2 The written test contained 3 sections i.e. analytical skills (mostly from Venn diagrams, and a set of questions on whether a candidate will be selected or not in a college on subjected to the three conditions i.e. clearing cutoff marks, ability to pay the fees etc.), easiest part was mind checking (to choose same nos. out of a group of 3 eg_123.45678, 124.45678 etc., if * is /, – is + then 23*4-45=?there were 3 questions on this same patter to check which of the 4 options is true, so don’t waste your time in those) and a section on English (it contained 2 passages very easy one on IBM os2.0 and other on rs-232, then few as on articles and 3 as to replace the italicized word with the correct synonym.)

Q-4 Then on next day first was the technical interview and I had mentioned computer architecture as my area of interest so I was asked
Difference between an interpreter and a compiler
What is an OS explain its functioning

I was also asked lots of questions from HR such as
Describe yourself.
Your family background
Your strengths how did these help you?
You hobbies and how are they helpful to you.
Where do you see yourself 5 years down the line?
What knowledge have you acquired in the technical field in last 4 years?

He also asked me from managerial/decision making field like in Accenture if you have work against your area of interest for 7 months then after this period how would you behave with your project manager.

Q-5 followed by technical I had my HR which seem to be nothing but a formality with only 2 or 3 questions on my hobbies and their use. be selected or not in a college on subjected to the three conditions i.e. clearing cutoff marks, ability to pay the fees etc.), easiest part was mind checking (to choose same nos. out of a group of 3 eg_123.45678, 124.45678 etc., if * is /, – is + then 23*4-45=? there were 3 questions on this same patter to check which of the 4 options is true, so don’t waste your time in those) and a section on English (it contained 2 passages very easy one on IBM os2.0 and other on rs-232, then few as on articles and 3 as to replace the italicized word with the correct synonym.)

Accel Frontline Fresher Job Interview Placement paper Pattern

ACCEL

PAPER : Accel Frontline Fresher Job Interview Placement paper Pattern

Company Name : Accel Frontline
Type : Job Interview, Fresher

Dear Friends,

This is Akshat Jain currently pursuing B.Tech. from IIMT Engg. College, Meerut. Accel Frontline visited our campus two times for a complete campus recruitment process. I could not remember the date but interview date was 23rd of May`2008 firstly,

It took Written Exam: Written exam consist of 50 questions in which, 10 ques. consists of Maths and other 40 ques. consists of Language, Harware, Operating System.

Questions are very hard for a software engineer if one does not have any hardware knowledge. Only software, language and other theoritical subject are not enough, one should have good knowledge. Also Accel Frontline was hiring B.Tech. Candidates first time for their some special projects and before that it recruits technical candidates from other courses not from B.Tech. Secondly, There was a Personal Interview One-to-One. It was just a formal HR.

They require that a candidate must have habbit of learning and a willingness to do something for a company and for others too. He should be keen to learn and good attitude. Ques they ask from me is that: Actually, I have a gold medal, which i pin up on my colour, then they ask me, U are also a gold medalist(before me one goldmedlist have attended a interview ) I answered that, Sir actually i am not a gold medalist but I have written a book of Mathmatics for a college(It was my dream which could not have completed till yet) thats why colg awarded me, this medal. Then lady HR. ask me that which type of book you have written, I answered that Ma’am i have just provide some basics of Mathematics to crack a problem in maths of many many steps.
sarkari naukri
For Example i eliminte the use of many steps in solving a integration and give how to use gama function for that same integration, with minimum steps just two or three instead of 10-20 initially. There were two HR’s and GM of the company. They accepted my answere and GM give some indiacation to one lady HR. I think this answere was my key for the selection. then they ask me about my family background, and ask me about bond that my parents will be ready to sign a bond and i too. I answered that yes, sir then they ask that why? I answered that sir my parents will not stop me to go forward on any right path.

Then GM ask how do you analyse that which company is right or wrong for u? Suddenly he ask that Accel Frontline is right company for me or not. I replied Yes sir, Then they ask me that Are u ready to work all over india.? I replied that sir, yes i am ready to work any where in india and all over world too. They give a quite smile and say thank you. After half an hour of completion of interview they announced tha result and we were 11 students got selected in Accel Frontline, seven to them of EC branch and four of them my branch.(Ankit Vidyarthi, Arun Kumar, Shashankh Gupta, Akshat Jain). Selection procedure may be changed because it was the first time of their selection of B.Tech candidated, for further recruitment they can change the procedure.

Be prepare for that also be prepare of good hardware knowledge. okk thank you, meet in the company. Er.Akshat Jain
